FERBASA’S MINING TAILINGS DAMS

CIA DE FERRO LIGAS DA BAHIA - FERBASA ("Company" or "Ferbasa") (B3: FESA3 and FESA4), deeply regrets the recent human and environmental tragedies in the municipality of Brumadinho/MG, caused by the rupture of the mining tailings dam at "Córrego do Feijão" Mine. We express our solidarity with the victims, families and all those who were directly or indirectly impacted by this sad and irreparable event.

We enlighten to the general public, in accordance with our duty to comply with the legal requirements related to environmental, mineral and labor safety management, that Ferbasa’s mining tailings dams, located in Campo Formoso and Andorinha, both in the State of Bahia, are safe, comply with current legislation and meet the best mining tailings dam engineering standards.

We emphasize that the Company’s dams are classified by the National Mining Agency - "ANM" as low potential damage, low-risk category and their projects have been using a different method of construction from the one that was broken in Brumadinho/MG.

At this moment of deep sorrow, we want to reassure the communities close to Ferbasa’s mines, reaffirming our commitment to safety and responsibility in the conduct of operations.
